Description
Thin clear bubbly glass with interior stains (clear heavy glass for the stand); free-blown, pattern-molded with applied and tooled decoration. The set consists of a double stand in one piece to receive the two cruets; the cruet consists of a cylindrical lower part with a bulge at the shoulder tapering towards the neck; pear-shaped solid handle consisting of three ribs attached to upper neck and shoulder, the rim being tooled to form a spout; a row of vertical rigaree bands around the shoulder, two rigaree collars around neck; the thickened rim is crimped; solid stopper with double ball finial, the first one having vertical rigaree bands while the upper has three curving leaves attached; the stand consists of two cylindrical cups patterned in a vertical rib mold, with the ribs extending towards the underside, rough pontil mark at center; applied heavy threading around the rim to enforce the other sections of the cup; large four rib handle applied to the two cups to hold them as well as join them together; on top of handle is a cross- hatched piece; at the bottom triangular cross-hatched section as well as a small section of glass between the cups in order to strengthen the bond of the two; rigaree band around bottom of each cup.
