Description
Colorless lead glass; blown, engraved. Bell-shaped bowl; with double rib at the rim; engraved decorative band depicting a hunter aiming a bow and arrow at a fleeing stag inscribed "ANCIENT FORESTER" above, and with the monogram "I,,T" in a foliate wreath at the right; diamond-scratched "B" and "Smith & Bailer" in front of the stag, across some of the engraving; scratched "18 / 39" in the ground, below and in front of the stag; swirled band of heavy ribbing at the base; applied loop handle, crimped and curled at the lower terminal; stem, flared at both ends, with a central disk knop; disk above a heavy disk foot; rough pontil mark.
