Web Description:
Bruce’s objects are neither functional vessels nor nonfunctional sculpture. They exist, she says, “somewhere in between.” Although she is drawn to sculptural forms, she is most interested in the symbolism of the vessel as a context in which the intermingling of forces takes place. The dark, opaque surface of this object disguises its translucence, which is revealed through the opening and the deep cuts.
