Web Description:
Tapio Wirkkala met and became close friends with Ludovico Diaz de Santillana, the director of Venini after Paolo Venini's death in 1959. On several occasions, Diaz de Santillana invited Wirkkala to Murano to make designs for Venini. While Wirkkala embraced Italian colors and glassmaking techniques, he stayed true to his Finnish heritage.
