Transparent light blue glass, (a) probably blown, wheel-cut, ground and polished. (a) Bowl: rim plain with rounded lip emphasized on inside by thinning of wall immediately below it; straight tapering side; base plain; wheel-cut decoration on outside of wall and underside of base; on wall: uppermost part has been thinned, leaving narrow cordon immediately below lip; below this, four horizontal rows of contiguous facets, making all-over pattern that fills three-quarters of wall with facets arranged in quincunx; facets are tall and narrow, those in top row being roughly oval with pointed bottom, those in second and third rows being hexagonal, and those in bottom row being hexagonal with rounded bottom; on underside: rosette with circular depression at center and fourteen petal-shaped facets with straight sides and rounded ends, which extend to edge of base; base plain. (b) Spoon: translucent blue glass; possibly cast; tooled; wheel-cut. Spoon shape; pointed oval bowl; slender circular-section handle, which rises steeply for 1.2 cm. and then continues at a much shallower angle as far as the tip, which is flattened and turned upward; decoration on underside of bowl: five contiguous rows of elongated hexagonal facets, parallel to the handle; outermost rows have three facets, the others four.
