Floral Plaque Fragment. Translucent grayish medium blue glass, extremely bubbly with canes of opaque white, opaque yellow, opaque red, turquoise and translucent yellow-green; mosaic glass or millefiori technique, surface reground recently. Roughly rectangular fragment preserves portion of three sides, in center of lower border is a pine cone-like cluster of eight yellow elements, from this radiates a semi-circular band of feathery yellow-green leaves tipped with white; above this motif two more clusters of yellow are repeated forming the base of two vertical rows of three blossoms, the top being a second yellow cluster, the center blossom a stylized flower of four petals with triangular leaves, the center composed of yellow cased with white and followed by red; between these rows is an irregular cluster of three blossoms or fruits, two of red centers cased with white and bordered by yellow, one has a white center with a red cross, the white cased with yellow and green respectively, above this cluster radiates five stems with turquoise leaves, the blossoms of these alternating between a poppy-like bud of yellow capped with red and surmounted by an amethyst circle outlined with dots of yellow, on either side of these two buds and in the center are three wheat-like shafts, the centers being white divided into segments by green lines, the entire unit surrounded by feathery yellow lines, the overall form being an elongated spearhead; above on the right is a multiple petaled white flower.
