Description
Transparent yellowish-brown with mottled bluish-green fumed surface (or possibly overlay); transparent pale blue with darker blue streaks; flameworked, fumed, wheel-engraved. Goblet. Bowl: transparent yellowish-brown with fumed or cased surface; tulip-shaped with rim in form of three petals; lip rounded, rim curves inward and wall descends almost vertically before curving in to bottom; rim and wall slit in three places. Stem: transparent blue; long, narrow tube with swelling at top and bottom, and with two corkscrew twists. Foot: made from same tube as stem; low hollow cone with rounded edge. Engraved decoration on bowl, cut through to yellowish-brown: seven butterflies of different sizes and shapes, all with wings outspread and shown from either above or below. Signatures: on bowl: "Schmid" (engraved or possibly acid-etched, cursive); on underside of foot, near edge: "K. Schmid 84 W. Schmid 84" (cursive, engraved).
