Web Description:
René Roubícek (Czech, b. 1922) has had a significant influence on modern Czech glass design, art, and architecture. An influential teacher and accomplished jazz musician, Roubícek impressed his students with his music as well as his revolutionary and award-winning ideas for shape and decoration in glass. Roubícek's sculptural approach to blown glass is evident in this gourd-shaped vase, which was blown by the Czech glass master Josef Rozinek at the Czech national glassworks in Nový Bor.
