Wood, stained and overlay glass, reverse painted, cut and engraved. Wooden construction of polished walnut designed as a gothic portal with a central pediment flanked by two towers. All sections of framework inset with individually cut panels in red, green, blue, and yellow overlay glass decorated with trefoil, quatrefoil, and other gothic patterns. The large arched central panel depicts the Madonna and Child set against a curtain and landscape. The scene is painted in polychrome enamles on the front and reverse of the glass panel, and is set into a stained glass frame painted with gothic foilage and scrollwork in transparent yellow against a dark brown opaque background. On the left of the central panel are two engraved red glass panels depicting below the apostle Peter, above the symbol of the Evangelist John. On the right two matching panels engraved below with the apostle Paul and the signature "F ZACH," and above the symbol of the Evangelist Matthew.
