Description
Colorless glass; mold-pressed. Thick flat disk with matte-finished intaglio design on back depicting a robed male (3/4 length profile) with bowed head, single outstretched arm carrying a heavy staff, one bent leg as if climbing forward, on his shoulders the figure supports a child sitting astride with body twisted to present frontal view, child has one hand raised in blessing, radiating rays emanate from circular area surrounding child's curly hair, rays fill background; where legs of male figure terminate the disk is joined at a right angle to a small solid circular base, ground and polished flat; impressed on back edge near base: "R. LALIQUE FRANCE".
