Sheffield plate, blue lead glass; (glass) blown-molded, cut. (a) Sheffield plate, oval boat-shape basket with reeded hinged ball handle; rim with pierced band of repeated foliate motifs; lower part formed of open wire arches, attached at the base to a spreading pointed-oval foot; underside of the foot inscribed with scratched "55" and script "beB". (b) Conforming deep oval liner; probably blown into a full-size mold; ground and polished on the exterior and on the rim.
