Description
Transparent red, opaque white, colorless non-lead glasses; blown, cut, overlaid, enameled, gilt. Tall shape with double-ball sides; colorless with ruby lining throughout; flared neck with cut and gilt petal rim; the sides covered with a scrolled foliage design in gold; rounded ring at the base of the neck, colorless over white, originally gilt; short section below, with gilt design of foliage; globular knop with white overlay, cut away at the top and the bottom to reveal the red, also with gilt foliate scrollwork; white bands above and below a wide white band covered with enameled naturalistic flowers and green leaves, with gilt background; capstan section with gilt edges and foliate design, below the ball, and above a larger ball; white overlay on the larger ball, cut away on top and bottom and with gilt decoration (as on the smaller ball); white bands on either side of a wide white band, with oval panel on the front, decorated with a bust portrait of a woman wearing a flower in her hair; sepia background; gilt border; the remainder of the band filled with enameled naturalistic flowers against a gilt background; stem with angular, white overlaid top, waisted below, with rounded trailed ring at the center, colorless over white formerly entirely gilt (or perhaps with a central white band); the waisted section with gilt foliate scrollwork, showing the red inner glass; white angular collar with gilt lines at either side at the base of the stem; circular foot with white overlay, a band cut away to reveal the red underlying glass, near the base of the stem, filled with gilt foliate scrollwork; a wide band of white with enameled naturalistic flowers and gilt background; cut groove through the white at the downturned footrim; gilt band on the side; polished, flat rim.
