Description
Whale Oil Lamp with Shade. Colorless glass, metal, pewter; blown, pressed, cut, ground, assembled. (a) Colorless glass base with five-tiered pressed trefoil foot and stem connected to an inverted teardrop-shaped blown and ground font with cut grape and vine decoration. Fixed threaded pewter collar. Olive green streak in foot. (b) Metal wick holder with two chimneys. (c) Threaded metal thumbscrew. (d) Blown and ground colorless glass shade with bulbous body, waisted neck, and flared rim. Exterior of shade decorated with cut grapes and vines.
