Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, gilt, scratch (diamond) engraved. Ovoid bowl; gilt, polished rim; scratch (diamond) engraved decoration, including a male portrait in cleric dress, within a scrolled frame; two shields at either side, the one at the left with a male head, that at the right with a vertical row of three crosses at the center and vertical ribbing at the sides, with trident and caduceus crossed behind the shield; inscribed in a panel on the reverse "Die vyt geen dwang./Nog selfs belang./Zyn zugt tot Vryheid/dooft/Die drinkt ter Eer./Der braaven Heer/Den Burger Vader/HOOFT"; cut rounded panels at the base of the bowl; diamond-faceted straight stem; conical foot; rough pontil mark.
