Biography: Asya Reznikov
Asya Reznikov, who emigrated from the U.S.S.R. at age 5, received her M.F.A. from Hunter College, New York City; her B.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston; and studied in Berlin, Germany; Wolvenhampton, England; and New York. She is an installation and sculptural artist working in glass and other media forms. Reznikov has lived and worked in France, England, Holland, Italy, Germany, and India.
Reznikov’s work explores how culture, tradition, language and sense of home shape and define our identity and how immigration/emigration and travel alters or illuminates that identity. A former Artist-in-Residence at The Studio (2001), she has received many prestigious scholarships, residencies, and awards that have enabled her to pursue her work. In 2008, she was the recipient of a 2008 Culturas award sponsored by the Cultural Ministry of Spain. Her work has been exhibited internationally.
