Biography: Jim Byrnes
Jim Byrnes began his career in glass as a scientific glassblowing apprentice in 1979 and earned a living making laboratory equipment for 30 years. More artist than scientist by nature, he has always enjoyed the decorative possibilities of flameworking. Byrnes’ artistic goal is to combine his creative desire for design with the structural integrity of laboratory glassware to produce items that bring lasting pleasure. He now works at his own studio in Pennsylvania.
