Biography: Kate Fowle Meleney
Kate Fowle Meleney has been making glass beads and jewelry since 1980, and has been teaching since 1982. She produced her beginning instructional video in 1995, followed in 2001 by two advanced videos. She has been the featured artist in Ornament Magazine, Lapidary Journal, Bead and Button and Glass Art magazines, and has demonstrated and taught in numerous venues, including the Renwick Gallery, Washington, DC; Penland School, Penland, NC; Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, ME; the Jam Factory, Adelaide, Australia; and the Kobe Glass Festa, Kobe, Japan. She is one of 40 artists included in the recent book, Masters: Glass Beads – Major Works by Leading Artists, and is the subject of The Enamel and Electroform Decorated Beads of Kate Fowle Meleney, by James Kervin (the 3rd in his series about glass bead artists).
