Matthew Decker was first drawn to glass while attending college at Kent State University in northern Ohio. Lured by the heat, intensity, and immediacy of the material, he enjoyed the challenge of working hot glass. He has studied under a number of American Studio Glass pioneers, including Henry Halem and Richard Marquis. He has also assisted in and taught several classes. Matthew was the production manager for Oakley Studio Glass at Cedar Creek Gallery just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina, before joining the Hot Glass Show team on Celebrity Cruises.
