Biography: Sheila Mahut
Sheila Mahut’s career spans more than 25 years, during which she has exhibited internationally, and successfully developed many series of blown and kiln-cast glass. Mahut graduated from the Sheridan College’s School of Craft and Design and then went on to complete a BFA in Sculpture (Glass) at Illinois State University. She has taught at Sir Sanford Fleming College and Sheridan College’s glass department where she successfully developed many series of blown and sculptural glass. Mahut has also taught at numerous workshops in North America, including The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass.
Mahut has won awards and tuition scholarships from universities and colleges as well as professional grants and Awards of Merit in exhibitions. Mahut's work is in a number of private and public collections in Canada and abroad and images of her work have been published in magazines, catalogs, and books. Since 1995, she has pursued a career in glass that has been more focused on teaching than making objects.
