The Art of Flameworking

June 2 - 7, 2014
All Levels
One-Week Session

This course is perfect for you if you’re a beginner, or have some experience, and wish to improve your knowledge of flameworking techniques and create work in an artistic context. We will discuss our projects, and explore how to create an artistic body of work evolving around your personal interests.  Demonstrations will include plant and insect replication, as well as small scale sculptures, using soft glass. The class will discuss issues such as the importance of conceptual input, creating a coherent body of work, and combining different materials with glass. We will start from the beginning steps of working with the flame and develop towards a more advanced practice of the technique. No glassworking experience is required.
