Drawing on two master glass artists’ experiences, students will create designs to be flameworked and cast into panels. This class will create two-dimensional designs encapsulated in cast glass panels or cast glass paperweights. These flameworked inclusions will be cast into forms that will be studied for the final cast in the hot shop. The Museum’s extensive collection, daily demonstrations, and several lectures will serve as inspiration. Students will have the opportunity to spend the maximum amount of time flameworking soda-lime glass at the torch. Two years of flameworking experience are required.
