This class will explore the compression technique used to make flowers and other deeply encased designs. Students will transform solid rods of borosilicate glass into marbles and pendants. They will learn to do color overlays and tooling tricks for interesting layered petal and leaf designs. There will be strong emphasis on heat and flame management, and students will learn why compression is the dynamic force in this technique. Basic flameworking experience is required.
