Students will use hot-working techniques to create blown glass objects and then use cold-working techniques to sculpt the objects. After cold working, some pieces will be returned to the blowpipe or punty for additional hot applications. As one of the pioneers of the studio glass movement, Dreisbach has acquired many techniques that he will share. Students will use color, bit work, grinding wheels, diamond and stone tools, lathes, and other equipment and processes to create carved and decorated sculpture and vessels. They will study selections from the Museum’s collection for inspiration. At least one year of glassblowing experience is required.
