Introduction to Borosilicate
Students will explore the fundamentals of working with both clear and colored borosilicate glass through a series of techniques including the creation of stringers, encased rod, and colored cane. Students will progress through more complex patterning, and develop skills to create simple sculptural shapes, as well as an understanding of the process of fusing these shapes together to create complex-looking ornaments. Class time will be divided between instructional demonstrations and supervised work time. All levels of experience are welcome.
