This class will cover cold working techniques as applied to the exteriors of glass vessels. Students will learn, in detail, how to use different cold-working equipment safely and effectively. They will learn diamond, stone, and synthetic wheel use and maintenance. Surface carving and battuto finishes will be included. This is a hands-on class that will focus on the process of grinding and polishing, as well as understanding the tools and techniques being used. Students will have ample hands-on work time and will draw inspiration from trips to the Museum and Rakow Research Library. Blanks will be supplied, but students are welcome to bring their own pieces to finish or for experimentation. All levels are welcome for this class.
