The course will instruct students on a variety of kiln-casting and mold-making methods inspired by the use of glass in architecture. Students will explore pattern and design through the use of a variety of techniques that include the making of mold tests, and the use of color and line in glass casting. Vitreous enamels, colorants, and fusible compatible glass colors will be utilized alone or in combination in flat or dimensional work. A final project will “collage” a selection of favorite kiln casting approaches. All skill levels are welcome.
