Pop-Gothic Stained Glass

August 7 - 12, 2017
Stained Glass
All Levels
One-Week Session

The technique of kiln firing enamels onto glass dates back to medieval times. This workshop offers modern techniques for applying imagery on the glass surface: hand painting, air brushing, “pen-and-ink drawing,” silk-screening onto glass, along with the basics of cutting, copper foiling and soldering stained glass techniques will all be explored. Students will work with a variety of silk-screens the instructor will provide. This is a perfect class if you have a stained glass background, or are a painter who wants to paint on glass. Beginners are more than welcome. Students do not need to know how to paint as they will learn to paint any type of image, be it a design they draw, or something they trace from an existing found image. Students can expect to go home with at least one finished stained glass panel. Demonstrations on how to frame and light your final work are included. The class includes some excellent lectures and worksheet to help you focus on the style of your work (and life). All levels welcome.
