2300°: 40, Fire & Ice

February 16, 2006 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Celebrate the 40th 2300° event, with local wine tastings, ice studios, drums, whistles, live music by Entrain, and more at the Museum.

Fire and Ice
Frozen water and molten glass come together in a specially constructed outdoor “ice” studio.

Drums and Whistles
Borrow a drum provided by Toko Imports, Ithaca (or bring your own instrument), and join the outdoor drumming circle around the WhistleWorks sculpture. Drumming by One Heart, facilitated by Steve Calkins. WhistleWorks glass steam whistle by artist Greg Worthington.

Rhythm and Drums
The band Entrain shifts effortlessly between musical styles, from rock, blues, calypso and ska, to zydeco, jazz and funk – often within the same song.

Wine Tasting and Flameworking
Warm up to great wine samples provided by regional Finger Lakes wineries. Watch glassmaking at the torch by local flameworkers Bob Carson, Eric Goldschmidt, Ed Hammond and John Hargrave.
