Behind the Glass Special Guest: Jeff Koons

Amphitheater Hot Shop
May 11, 2017 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Balloon Dog, ©Jeff Koons, 1994-2000.

One of the most influential and controversial American artists active today, Jeff Koons elevates popular culture into a high art form. His artwork plays with ideas of taste, pleasure, and commerce by transforming banal objects such as “balloon dogs” or piles of Playdoh into monumental sculpture. He has collaborated with Lady Gaga, designed a painted ‘art car’ for BMW, wine labels for the vintage Château Mouton Rothschild, and recently unveiled a collaboration with Google. In 2017, he will be the first Artist-in-Residence at Columbia University’s Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, where he will collaborate with scientists to explore themes common to contemporary art: memory, perception and the stimulation of the senses.

Museum Members at the Donor level and above ($135+) are invited to come early for a private reception at 5:30. Please RSVP to +1 (607) 438-5600 or membership@cmog.org by May 8.
