Meet the 2014 Rakow Commission Artist: Amber Cowan

Auditorium

November 13, 2014 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Philadelphia-based 2014 Rakow Commission artist Amber Cowan will give a lecture prior to the unveiling of the work. There will be a post-lecture reception with coffee and cookies beginning at 8:15 pm. Both events are free and open to everyone.

In her sculptures, Cowan flameworks, fuses, and hot-sculpts recycled, upcycled, and second-life glass–usually American pressed glass dating from the 1940s to the 1980s–to create contemporary forms that preserve the memory of the earlier objects. Read more about her work.

The Rakow Commission is awarded annually to up-and-coming and established artists whose work is not yet represented in the Museum's collection.

Museum Members at the Donor level and above ($125+) are invited to come early for a private reception at 6:15 pm. Please RSVP to 607.438.5600 or membership@cmog.org by November 10.

Not able to attend? This lecture will be recorded and will be available for viewing, in full, on our YouTube channel within 3 days of the event.
