Tour Assistant Program

Tour Assistant Program

The Education Department of The Corning Museum of Glass is seeking volunteers for the summer season. We are looking for students entering grades 8-10 who want to volunteer in a creative and fun environment. Students must be willing to commit to volunteer Monday- Friday, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, for a one-week time period in July or August.

Tour Assistants will train directly with a Senior Explainer. They will help with summer youth tours, prepare materials for the Make Your Own Glass Workshop, and assist education department staff with tour preparation and distribution of materials in the galleries.

This experience provides youth with daily opportunities to learn about glass and to develop presentation, customer service, and job readiness skills. They will be in a creative environment with like-minded teens and visitors from around the world.

Tour Assistants must attend a mandatory orientation meeting prior to beginning their volunteer time. During their assigned week(s) at the Museum, they will need to bring or purchase their own lunch and will have a daily half-hour lunch break. They also must have their own transportation.

Application deadline is April 30. Download an Application Form
