Includes making of glass tubing and rods (both hollow and solid) for beadmaking, glass eyes being made at the torch, cottage workshops making pressed glass beads, and a factory making wound beads." Includes the use of bead tongs for pressing glass beads and buttons.
Shari Hopper filmed beadmakers in Lauscha and Kaufbeuren, Germany, as well as Jablonec, Czech Republic from 1988-1993. Equipment includes multiple curved nozzles, electric motorized machine which was hand operated with attached shoot, single-bead hand presses.
