"#555 line was originated by George Duncan Sr. about 1940-1941. Originally this line had a full beaded ege. When the new mould was put into operation I called Mr. Duncan's attention to the similarity of the #555 line to Imperial's Candlewick and after some discussion it was decided to add the tail to each bead making it sort of a tear drop edge.
