One of the Notebooks of Frederick Carder.
Ledger book with black cover worn to dark blue in spots on the front cover. The back cover of this notebook was originally stuck to another notebook and shows damage due to the separation of the covers. There are very few blank pages.
Inside front cover is a chart of atomicities for Groups I-V. Page 1 is dated Oct. 8th [no year]; p. 4 is dated "Friday 14th 1886"; p. 33 "Metals" is dated 1887. In addition to the notes on chemistry, this notebook includes notes and sketches of blast and Siemens regenerative furnaces; notes on different types of fuel and their "calorific power", coke, combustible gases, pyrometers, and methods of taking off waste gases.
Fragile materials. Use the digital or microform copies of the notebooks.
