T.J. Smith, Son & Downes pocket note book with a maroon cover that was originally stuck to other notebooks and shows damage around spine and edges due to the separation of the covers. Notebook includes a tiny pencil held in a metal clip.
A companion to the travel diary "Notes Paris, Aug. & Sept. 1897" that includes other information from 1898-1899. Includes brief notes about Carder's trip to Paris, along with notations of expenses, lists of photos taken, a few sketches of objects, glassware orders (Grinsell & Sons: 8 whisky btls, citron & poppy, 8 tall chmys...", notes on concerts and other social functions, lines of poetry, and recipes for bismuth glass, glass with copper lustre, and opalescent glass.
