Color experiments (27 p.), followed by 71 blank p., then Questions, Honour Stage and a copper ruby recipe, followed by 91 blank p. Last 6 p. contain 23 questions pertaining to glassmaking.
Includes recipes for: torquoise [sic] blue, flint batch, green, pomona green, topaz, purple from MnO₂, copper luster, copper ruby, alabaster, opalescent, spinell, ruby from gold, and trial for spinell to form opaque. The notebook also holds a list of 23 questions (no answers) including the following: "When & under what condition does glass become crystalline?"; "What conditions are necessary to ensure the durability of glass?"; "How would you tell the quality of white sand?"; and "Why is the gas furnace not generally used in England?"
