Black ledger book with a loose cover that was originally stuck to other notebooks and shows damage due to the separation of the covers. The notebook has been used from both ends and some entries are upside down. There are no blank pages.
Begins with "Reaction of the metals : silver", followed by "Solution on rendering woodwork etc. incombustable" (upside down). Includes notes on various elements and compounds, experiment results for detecting and separating various elements, compounds and acids. From back end, section begins and ends with pages of miscellaneous calculations. Entries are mainly notes on analysis of various ingredients used in glassmaking (sand, lead, carbonate of soda, K2CO3, saltpetre) (12 p.).
