Part of a group of letters written 1877-1880 between John Northwood I and Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, during which time Northwood polished the pottery editions of the Portland Vase.
Memo confirms that crack does indeed go through body of pottery copy of Portland Vase. Also included is request to share loss and charge only half of usual finishing charge.
Additional notations, possibly a copy of the reply, penciled in on verso.

typed in red ink along upper edge.
