Title from heading on first leaf.
One of the Notebooks of Frederick Carder.
"F. Carder, John Street, Wordsley, W. Stourbridge"--P. of cover.
First 39 leaves begin with "Lecture by Mr. Stannus in ornament, S.K.M. July 29th 1889", mostly in pencil, but a section designated "II" is in ink. Following 2 blanks leaves are notes on "Figure casting in plaster, by Cantoni, S.K., 1893", gelatine casting, cire perdu wax, "Casting with wax as given me by Brooks of Sheffield, 1885", coloring plaster casts, modelling wax, and staining plaster casts bronze. Following these are 29 blank leaves. The last 5 leaves of the notebook include notes on "Scale for modelling figures from life, M. Lantari method, S.K. Schools 1889" and sketches of the human head and body.
Fragile materials. Use the digital or microform copies of the notebooks.
Digitized by Boston Photo Imaging in August 2010.
The 1885 entry was most likely added to the notebook after 1893 since it follows entries of that date.
