Notes:
Introduction provided by Susanne Frantz.
Susanne K. Frantz, Curator of 20th-Century Glass, The Corning Museum of Glass ; Gay LeCleire Taylor, Curator, Museum of American Glass, Wheaton Village.
Filmed during the annual Seminar on Glass, The Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY, October 21, 1995.
Gay LeCleire Taylor's lecture combined with the use of a slide show, provides an introduction to the Durand Art Glass firm, and covers those firms which were Durand's predecessors (Vineland Flint Glass and Quezal). She attributes Victor Durand and Martin Bach, Jr. as being responsible for establishing Durand Art Glass which was in business for only 7 years. She shows examples of Durand's glassware such as cut, cameo, cased, decorated - primarily tableware and lamps, as well as Ralph Barber's ware. Her lecture ends with brief information about Kimble (1931-32) and Cluthra.
