After a brief introduction by Arno Heuduck, this program documents the craft and history of mosaic art, and the achievements of the Ravenna Mosaic Company of Fredericktown, Missouri. Highlighted are examples of the company's work as Saint Bartholomew's Cathedral and Temple Emanuel in New York, Union Terminal in Cincinnati, the St. Louis Cathedral, as well as the mosaic owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (a copy of one in Ravenna), housed at The Corning Museum of Glass. The program includes a demonstration of how the mosaics (smalti) are made, and the creation and installation of a panel.
