The Hot Glass Demo is a live, narrated glassblowing demonstration, offered all day, every day. It is included in the cost of admission. Allow 30 minutes per demonstration, the duration of special demos may vary.
You’ll see master glassmakers take glowing gobs of molten glass on the end of a pipe and skillfully shape them into vases, bowls, or sculptures. A narrator talks through the process, and cameras inside the 2300°F furnace ensure you don’t miss a single step along the way.
Flameworking Demos are live, narrated demonstrations of glassworking at a 5000 degree Fahrenheit gas- and oxygen-powered torch. Demos take place in the Glass Innovation Center, and are included in the cost of admission. Allow 15 minutes per demonstration, the duration of special demos may vary.
Expert flameworkers demonstrate the glassmaking technique of forming objects from rods and tubes of glass at a torch, and talk you through the process. During the demo, you’ll see the flameworker melt the rods in the flame and then shape the softened glass into any variety of shapes, from glass animals to beads to ornaments, sculptures, and vessels.
