Brown salt-glazed stoneware; turned, molded, enameled, gilt. Squat cylindrical shape; tapered rim; turned ring below, with enameled blue band; raised, rounded band below, with molded foliate scrolls enameled alternately in blue or white with yellow centers, the band flanked by yellow lines; wide band on the side with relief-molded figures of the Apostles, enameled in polychrome, against a bright blue background, the figures separated by yellow stars and lilies-of-the-valley; inscribed names above each Apostle, in a white band: "S. PETRVS./S. ANDREAS./S IACOB MAIOR./S. IOHANNES./S. PHILIPPVS./S. BARTOLOMEVS/S. THOMAS./S. MATTHEVS./S. IACOB MINOR./S. SIMON./S. IVDAS. DATDEVS./S. MATHIAS"; circular frame on the front, dividing the band of Apostles, decorated with an elaborate coat of arms, the initials "H.F./G." alongside; bright blue ground; rounded band below the scene with molded and enameled decoration matching that on the rounded band above, flanked by decorative rings of white enamel lines separated by sets of three yellow dots; sloping foot, with white ornaments with, alternately, blue and red dots, with interspersed gilt diamonds; applied loop handle with molded enameled nude female bust, on a pillar with enameled, molded lion's head on an apron, the pillar enameled red, yellow and blue; domed cover hinged to handle; spherical thumb-piece; nearly flat bottom; square paper label (the remains of a leather collection label), impressed "EDWIN J./BEINECKE/ COLLECTION/101".
