Brown salt-glazed stoneware; turned, molded, enameled. (a) Squat, cylindrical shape; tapered rim; molded band around the top with vertical yellow enamel dashes; band around the sides with relief-molded, enameled, standing figures of the Apostles, with enameled lilies-of-the-valley and stylized blue and yellow flowers between the figures; inscribed names above each figure in black on a continuous white enameled band, "S. Petrus/S. Andreas/S. Jacob Maior./S. Johannes./S. Philippus./S. Bartolomeus./S. Thomas./S. Mattheus./S. Jacob Minor/S. Simon./ S. Judas datteus./S. Matthias."; circular panel on the front, enclosing an elaborate coat of arms, dated "16/57.", framed with a yellow line and a blue band inscribed in white enamel "HANNS HEINRICH LEMMINGEN VF CULMAEIN. RIT.."; ring of white lines and interspersed sets of three yellow dots below the figural band; relief-molded chain, enameled yellow, at the top of the sloping foot rim; the foot rim bound with brass or copper sheet; concave, partly-glazed bottom, with a spot of red sealing wax near the center; square patch of glue, the remains of a Beinecke Collection label; applied loop handle with molded, yellow-enameled grotesque head with brown mustache and blue and white "beard" with central green stripe. (b) Flat, circular shape, with concave sides; large, molded, gilt stylized rose in the center attached to the cover with a screw and square nut.
