Clear very bubbly glass with many impurities and yellowish-green tinge; free-blown, enameled and gilded. Straight-sided body tapering downwards, foot ring made of same gather, high pushed up base with rough pontil mark; enamel decoration: represented in the yearly Pentecoste parade of the Halloren or salt panners, of Halle, Saxony, (also called Brueder im Thal); the decoration is arranged in a spiral movement; at the bottom is the coats of arms of the salt panners, flanked by two salt workers clad in white; the procession starts to the left of the salt worker with the space underneath at the beginning of the spiral filled by four flower stalks with green leaves and red, blue, yellow and white blossoms; the processing begins from the bottom with a man carrying a big yellow chest on his right shoulder (containing the annual revenue to be delivered to the salt-grave); on the reverse are nine salt panners clad in black with black hats; then follows a standard bearer in multicolored enamel and four musicians, three with flutes and one with a drum; the whole procession approaches a large white house with three onion shaped pediments on the front and one on the right side, a large flag with Saxonian arms is attached to one window; the building is the "Thalamtshaus" or administration building of the salt grave; to the left of the building is another flower stalk similar to the ones at the bottom of the object; to the left the date: "ANNO 1679"; above this scene is a multicolored frieze showing the town of Halle, separated from the procession by a gilded band, a single red line and two rows of white beads; there is an "8" on the gold band above the standard bearer; below the procession, at the bottom of the vessel, underneath a red and a yellow line, is the following inscription: "Wer hir ausz Trincket zu jeder Zeit, Dem gesegne es die Heilige 3 faltigkeit."
