Colorless glass, metal, textile wick; pressed, blown, assembled. (a) Colorless pressed glass lamp base in shape of goblet. Cup-shaped font with flanged rim and fixed threaded metal socket, short cylindrical stem with ring handle connecting to circular foot. Inscription on underside of foot reads, "OIL GUARD LAMP * PATD SEP 20 1870 *". (b) Metal wick holder with hinged top; knob stamped, "DELUXE / MADE IN / U.S.A.". (c) Colorless blown glass chimney.
