Replica of Leeuwenhoek Simple Microscope. (a) Patinated brass, colorless glass; assembled. Rectangular simple microscope consisting of brass armature mounted to two sheets of brass sandwiched together. Tiny colorless glass lens situated between sheets of sandwiched brass. (b) Small rectangular sheet of mica used for looking at a specimen and holding it in place. (c) Tiny circular "300 lines" grid used for estimating the size of a specimen. (d) Lump of beeswax used for attaching a specimen to assembly.
