Rosewood box with hinged lid, two metal clasping mechanisms, and one metal lock; top of box decorated with two inlaid metal bands around edge and one central inlaid metal decorative piece; interior of top fitted with padded brown velvet; interior of bottom covered with brown velvet and divided into several compartments specially designed and labeled to house optician's lenses and other equipment used for examination (2010.2.34-218). Examination set consists of 60 concave glass lenses of various sizes in metal mounts with metal handles (2010.2.34-1 through 2010.2.34-60), 36 concave cylindrical glass lenses of various sizes etched at top and bottom in metal mounts with metal handles (2010.2.34-61 through 2010.2.34-96), 36 convex cylindrical glass lenses of various sizes etched at top and bottom in metal mounts with metal handles (2010.2.34-97 through 2010.2.34-132), 60 convex glass lenses of various sizes in metal mounts with metal handles (2010.2.34-133 through 2010.2.34-192), 10 prismatic glass lenses of various sizes in metal mounts (2010.2.34-193 through 2010.2.34-202), 8 glass lenses of various sizes in metal mounts with metal handles in an unlabeled compartment (2010.2.34-203 through 2010.2.34-210), 1 circular metal gradated measuring tool (2010.2.34-211), 1 wire-rimmed metal disk with long dash cut in center (2010.2.34-212), 1 small cobalt blue glass lens (2010.2.34-213), 1 mirror disk in black metal mount with long black handle (2010.2.34-214), 1 pair of wire-rimmed glasses with tinted and iridized lenses (2010.2.34-215), 1 stemmed and footed colorless glass eye-wash cup (2010.2.34-216), 1 small spare brass screw (2010.2.34-217), and 1 velvet-covered square lid with metal handle that fits over one of the box's compartments (2010.2.34-219).
