Web Description:
Edouard Colonna produced several mounts for Tiffany vases, but this is the only mount known to survive. It features a type of enameling in the leaf-shaped peacock feathers known as Plique à jour (against the light). Normally, glass enamel is assembled on a metal ground. In Plique à jour, there is no metal ground, so the light shines through the enamel like a miniature stained-glass window.
