Karen LaMonte

Karen LaMonte believes the the primacy of material, concept and craftsmanship. She has a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her works are widely held in museum collections and have been recognized for excellence by many institutions such as the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Biennial Award. She lives and works in the Czech Republic.

In September 2017, LaMonte was selected as the Specialty Glass Artist-in-Residence for 2018. This residency is a joint program of The Corning Museum of Glass and Corning Incorporated that gives the selected artist access to specialty glass materials, scientists, and curators to experiment and explore new areas of their practice. LaMonte is the fifth specialty glass resident since the program’s inception in 2014. Her residency will begin on January 1 and will continue through the end of 2018.
